Hello Everyone! Every once in a while I get a request from a bride about an outdoor wedding and she
says she doesn't like or want a tent... my first response is usually "are you from the west coast?"
as many weddings happen successfully without tents in CA where the weather is much more predictable.
This got me thinking about tents in general so I thought I would share some of our favorite tent photos as well as tent wisdom.

On the wedding day, which was a truly beautiful day – the kind that only exists in Maine – Dave prepped with a professional shave, while the girls primped in a cute little salon in the Old Port. The ceremony and reception were held on the grounds of the Southern Maine Community College, on a spot where Linnea’s Grandfather’s house used to stand (before the college was built), overlooking the beach where her mother grew up taking swimming lessons!
Today we have featured the wedding of two filmmakers who made it their business to bring to life the journey of three senior citizens who serve as the official Troop Greeters of Maine’s Bangor International Airport. After hearing the incredible story about the film and the time, money and energy that was pored into its making, a group of Maine wedding professionals decided to gift this generous couple a wedding as their own way of thanking them for bringing such an important and touching story to the world.
What does a green tented wedding look like? Just ask Alison Hotchkiss of Alison Events LLC in San Francisco, Calif. In 2007, she planned two weddings that included some of the same eco-friendly elements. Yet they couldn’t have been more different.
Transforming a working horse farm into an elegant wedding site is no problem at all--if you have all the money in the
world, that is. But what if you’re saddled with a super-tight budget? "Not a penny more than $60,000, cash,"
wedding planner Gwen Helbush recalls her client insisting. In that case, some seriously creative coordinating
is called for. Helbush, owner of Newark, Calif.-based Where to Start, says an unconventional mix of hard
work and hard cash helped her get the June wedding off the ground--in this case, freshly planted sod.
To say the Glomsruds were on a fast track would be an understatement. Ryan met Elizabeth's whole family on their first
date—a blind one, set up by her mother—and six months later, the couple were engaged. They soon found themselves
in the backyard of Elizabeth's parents' home in Marion, exchanging vows in front of 70 of their nearest and dearest.
Founded by a maker of nautical sails, Sperry’s tents are emblematic of seaside New England
lawn parties (see their super preppy navy-and-white “Blue Star” tent with wood poles and pennant).
Get classic white with open or clear-plastic sides, or a custom-made tent in any hue you want.
A wedding party under a seaside tent is part of the summer landscape. But it's in
January, following the many holiday engagements, that Sperry Tents leaps into action,
planning to fulfill each bride’s fantasy for a dream setting they’ll remember forever.
